Attract the Perfect Prospects by Marketing Smarter

by Cathy Yeatts

Are you working yourself dizzy trying to build your mlm business, but feel like you?re getting nowhere with your prospects? Maybe it’s time to pause, take a breath and rethink your approach.

Your ability to answer the following questions and put those answer into practice is essential to giving your mlm the boost it needs.

1. Who is my target group, and what are their needs?

2. What am I marketing?

3. How am I marketing this?

The answer to Question 1 involves some simple psychology. Everyone wants to feel understood. Learn who your target market is, what they’ve been through, and what they’re looking for. Then you will be much more effective at marketing the solutions they need.

It’s a good practice to put yourself in the place of your target market. What frustration have they met with? Try to empathize with what they might be feeling. Empathy is a wonderful tool, in life and in business.

Now, don’t worry that it may be underhanded to bring emotions into your marketing. It’s realistic, and it adds a human element to your business. (Again, we’re talking about basic laws of human interaction. People do act upon emotions.)

As an answer to Question 2, you’re probably tempted to say, “I’m marketing my company’s product,” or “I’m marketing my company’s business opportunity.” The real answer is that in business, and in every other area of your life, you are selling YOU.

There are 28.7-billion network marketers out there selling products and business opportunities.* What makes you different? Why should your target market go with you? You see, YOU are the key factor here.

Give them a reason to trust you. Present yourself as the type of sponsor they would like to work with. Be the kind of leader who is knowledgeable, helpful, informative and approachable. Make your name and face as close to omnipresent on the web as you can. Familiarity breeds trust.

Lastly, consider the ways you’ve gone about trying to reach your ideal prospects. I could write many articles on that subject, but I’ll include a few pointers here.

First of all, make use of all the free advertising space on the Internet. YouTube and Squidoo are just a couple of the avenues you can use to make your face, your name and your business familiar on the web. You could also invest in banner ads that appear on certain sites, or use a pay-per-click service, such as Google Adwords.

Articles are a great way to promote yourself and your business. As you’re writing, keep in mind the types of keywords your target audience might be typing into the search engine boxes and incorporate those words or phrases often into your text.

If you’re too busy to write, outsource your writing project to freelancers. Elance can connect you with thousands of professional writers.

You can spread your content throughout the Internet using article directories like ezinearticles.com or GoArticles.com. Keep your content fresh and updated to keep yourself in the search engines’ sights.

Reassess your marketing techniques frequently to keep your approach fresh and your name in Google’s sights.
