Your Network Marketing Leads Hate Sharing – Shouldn’t You?

Written by Sam Baker on March 29th, 2010

It baffles me how many network marketers attempt to recruit their network marketing leads by sharing their products with them.

Upline leaders almost exclusively teach this prospecting method to new reps. And in fact, if you’ve ever been to one of those hotel or home meeting, you know exactly what I’m referring to.

It’s hard to be in a MLM opportunity for any length of time without being told to “simply put products in the hands of your MLM leads – the products will do the rest!”.

The way they make it sound tricks you into thinking it’s going to be easy. Because, after all, how hard could it be to simply tell any network marketing leads about products you’re already using yourself. Plus, you’ll even get paid for doing it!

So what always happens next?

You start sharing the wonderful new juice, vitamin, or whatever else to your MLM leads. But they don’t listen. It’s baffling. After all, you take the juice yourself and it makes you feel SO much better.

What gives?

Well let’s examine the psychology of sharing a little deeper, and once we do you’ll see a startling reality that most network marketers never even realize exists. Which, as a result, effectively derails any hopes they had of achieving their goals.

Now let’s say, for example, that I just starting using a gas additive in my car. I absolutely love this gas additive. In fact, my car has started getting an extra 15mpg, and my mechanic says he’s never seen anything work so well.

I tell you about it, and I even tell you where you can if you want to buy some.

Don’t you think you’d be pretty eager to try it?

Probably. I know I would if someone I trusted personally had the kind of results I just described.

Now suppose that the only place you’re able to purchase this product is from me. Because I’m a distributor fo this product. In fact, I earn a healthy 37% profit each time I sell it.

Would you still be as willing to try it?

I can pretty confidently say no. Because you immediately discounted my opinion of the product once you realized that I had something to gain by recommending it to you.

Well guess what – your MLM leads feel the same way.

They heavily discount your opinion when it comes to your products because they realize you have something to gain from their use of it – money.

Now your sharing is actually something completely different. It’s selling.

And as a result it’s no wonder that you face constant rejection. After all, you’re approaching your network marketing leads as if you’re simply sharing your experiences with them. While in reality, you have something to gain by their decision. So in other words, you’re selling them. And until you take a different approach, you’ll never achieve success.
